Go Green With Kroger's Shopping Bag Contest

Saturday, April 11, 2009

Create A Bag, Get a Bag. I love Kroger. And, truth be told, they love me too. I shop there several times a week. Really, I should own stock. But, it is a great store with low prices, super deals, quality products (fab generics and a sweet produce section).

Plus, because I use my shoppers card every time I visit, they send me coupons in the mail ALL the time, for stuff I actually buy. And, I get those print out coupons at the register every time I shop...and get this, they are for stuff I actually buy. Ok, you get the picture. I like Kroger. It's smart shopping made easy. (Hmmm, I maybe I should copyright that).

Anyway, one of the things that makes me feel good about shopping at Kroger is their green initiative. They do it well. Now, finally to the point of my post and all this babbling...in honor of Earth Day/Month they are having an online contest to design a reusable shopping bag for their stores. It's super easy to register or log in to your Kroger account (totally free) and make your own design. Once you submit your design your Kroger card will be credited with a FREE reusable shopping bag that you can pick up next time you visit one of their stores! You can also download your design, purchase it instantly from CafePress online or vote for your favorite design. Too cool!
Check it out here.

I love Kroger.

UPDATE: I got my free shopping bag. Easy as pie! I also picked up some framed art on clearance for $3 each. I know it's not Monet, but pretty cool for 3 bucks, no?

Happy Easter!

I was at Albertsons today. They had signs all over the store that in California we spend like 25 million dollars per year to process plastic bags in our landfills. This is so sad :( That is such a waste of land and money.

We have bags in every car. We bring them in the store, we unload and we put them right back in the trunk. Why use plastic bags?

I do hope you had a very pleasant, peaceful Easter.

Down here in hicksville, we only have two stores...well, not TWO total, but let me put it this way....we have a choice between H E B's and Wal Mart's Supercenter. I too love Kroger's when we go to Houston. Wish we had some here.

Are you going to participate in the design contest? Good luck if you do decide!! How fun.

Auntie Bobbie

That's right. I'm an Aunt. Though, my nephew won't call me, "Aunt". Bobbie is not my name. Though, this is what my nephew calls me. He gave me that name as soon as he learned to talk. "Bobbie" has been my name now for four years. And, you know what . . . I like it. I think I will feel great sadness when he no longer calls me by his name for me.

In June, I will welcome my second nephew. Little brother to the four year old who calls me "Bobbie". I wonder if my nephews will ever call me by my given name . . .

My nephews live in Michigan, USA. I was born and raised there. But today I live with my Aussie husband in Queensland, Australia - an ocean and half a continent away. Married two years, hoping for babies of my own, thrilled to celebrate the arrival of my newest nephew. Wish I could be there to hold him in my arms.

May 15 - June 8 I am hosting Mommie Daze Virtual Baby Shower. I'm inviting you to celebrate with me. That's right. I'm an Aunt.
