Project 366 Rewind - The Final Week

Monday, December 31, 2012

Here we are with the final week of Project Rewind 366! I can't believe it's been a whole year. I have really enjoyed this project and it has been a wonderful reminder to capture those precious little every day moments. I have to give a huge thank you to Gina and Sarah for been such gracious and wonderful hosts each week!!

Here's my peek at the last week of the year:

And here's my favorite from December:

I love that this project has prompted me to keep a better record of our daily lives.  I like having a weekly prompt for collecting all those images in an organized way and sharing them. Keeping up with a Project 365 can sometimes feel tedious, but I'm really glad I completed one!

For 2013, I'd like a more relaxed way of collecting weekly memories. To that end, I'm starting a new project for 2013. I'll be hosting a weekly meme called Friday's Photo Journal. It will be a fun link up where you can feature your favorite images from your week. You are welcome to showcase one for each day,  one a week, or anything in between, whatever fits your schedule. And all photos are welcome...phone pics, point and shoot, DSLR, anything goes.  If you want to include a journal entry that's awesome, if you are short on time, a visual recap works too. Just capture those sweet memories and share them!

I'll have occasional giveaways just for fun and I'll post the first linky this Friday.
So, come back then to join in!

iPhone Addict

Sunday, December 30, 2012

Happy Sunday all! We're just getting back from a trip out of town and another round of Christmas festivities with my in-laws. It was a great trip, but we're exhausted. I thought I'd just share this quick post for Simple Things Sunday. This is a pic of my little iPhone addict. She loves scrolling through my photos on my phone and taking a few of her own. I always find a surprise or two in my camera roll, ha ha. She also loves to play Rocket Math. She needs a little help with the addition but, if math beats Dora for her attention, I'm okay with that :)

Stop by Rebecca's place for more Simple Things and lots of inspiration.

Have a safe and Happy New Year!

Hopes and Dreams and Smiles Between

Thursday, December 27, 2012

Hi there,
I hope you had a wonderful holiday! Why does it have to go by so quickly?  We didn't have a white Christmas like so many in the U. S., but we had a fantastic day with family. We are still recovering from all the excitement, and the sugar overload.

I managed to catch one of my boys on camera last week, so that's what I'm sharing today. It is rare these days that I catch them with my camera. I was lucky to find Little Man in a carefree moment and I asked him about what he wanted Santa to bring. This is the expression I caught while he was rattling off his list of wishes:

Making salt dough ornaments.

Cuteness in the bath.

Making light boxes with my Mom.

Baking and eating lots of cookies.

Gazing at our Christmas tree.

Bribing boys to get in front of the camera for a moment.

And baking a raspberry coffee cake for Christmas morning.

What have you been up to?

A Quaint Christmas Moment

Sunday, December 23, 2012

Happy Sunday all! Today I thought I'd join the party over at Rock the Shot and link up my favorite Christmas Tree image. I haven't had a chance to play with Christmas tree shots as much this year as I did last, but I do love this sweet little moment I captured of Little Miss the other day. She was watching Rudolph and enjoying a Christmas cookie in her rocker.

Today I plan on catching up on laundry, resting up for the big night ahead
and eating a whole bunch of these:

What are you up to today?
Thanks so much for stopping in!

Salt Dough Ornaments - A Holiday Tradition

Friday, December 21, 2012

Happy Friday friends! I'm sure you are as busy as I am with Christmas prep, so I'll keep this short. I have lots more wrapping to do, a ton of cleaning, gifts to deliver and the laundry is piling up because my dryer pooped out! I think I've finally finished baking though. Whew! I'm a cookie fiend, and I don't think I can stand to look at another cookie for a while!

Anyway, I thought I'd share a peek into our holiday preparations. Each year the kids and I make salt dough ornaments for them to give to family and friends. It's one of my favorite traditions, and it's a fun way for them to be creative and spread a little holiday cheer.

Here's the recipe I use:
4 cups flour
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 cup salt

Mix well with spoon. Roll out with additional flour to prevent sticking ( I always use a cheap plastic table cloth for easy clean up). Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes.  Make a hole at the top with a toothpick for hanging. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Bake on cookie sheets for 1 1/2 to 2 hours until dry. Then I let them sit out for about 24 hours before painting.

We use acrylic craft paint and glitter to decorate them.
Once dry, I spray them with a clear sealant before adding ribbon.

What is your favorite family holiday tradition?

Little Things with Sugar On Top

Thursday, December 20, 2012

Hello my friends. We're getting down to the wire with all these Christmas preparations. I've been baking like a mad woman so that I can share some goodies with our neighbors at a couple of open houses we'll attend. And, keeping cookies in the cookie jar around here is no easy feat. They go quickly with all these little hands in the jar!
Today I'm sharing a pic I took last night of Little Miss enjoying a freshly baked sugar cookie.  She had just noticed the colored sugar was turning her hands colors.

How are your holiday preparations coming along? Do you have everything wrapped up?

Project 366 Rewind - Week 50

Monday, December 17, 2012

Hello friends, we're getting down to the end of the project here. Only two weeks left! This was a busy week, so several of these are iPhone pics. I just didn't have a lot of time to focus on shooting with my DSLR. We're deep into baking, crafting, wrapping, etc. around here. As well as trying to finish up schooling before we take a little holiday break. Nonetheless, here's my recap for the 50th week:

My Girl Scout - preparing her song book to go caroling:

Salt Dough Ornaments - we make them every year:

An angel - so thankful I was able to get this shot:

My wish for you:

Fresh Fruit Salad - seriously delicious:

My Studious Toddler- loves watching Signing Time:

Seasonal Sweets - those cookies didn't last 2 minutes:

Kleinworth &Co

That's it for last week. Thank for stopping in today! Tomorrow I'll be participating in the blogger moment of silence to honor the victims in Friday's attacks.
