Happy Friday! As usual, Christmas flew by. It was a whirlwind, but we enjoyed tons of fun and lots of family time together. I'm now back into the swing of work with a wedding editing marathon, but it was super nice to have a short break.

Last week we also had a pet emergency. Our resident sock-eater had to be admitted at the emergency vet for surgery to extract a sock from his intestines. That was rather stressful and pretty much NO fun at all, not to mention incredibly expensive. But, fortunately he is home now and doing well. Already back to trying his old tricks, so he's keeping us on our toes!

How was your holiday week?

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's almost Christmas and I am still so far behind! I've managed to button up nearly all the holiday shopping, but baking, wrapping, visiting, meal planning, and all the extra prep work are still not nearly finished. I've been sick for weeks and struggling to keep up with work, but I am finally coming out of the slump. We also had another pet emergency this week. : ( One of our Danes has something - probably socks because he's rather fond of them - lodged in his intestines. We've been on high alert with him all week and are praying it passes so that he can be spared surgery.

Sooooooo, general family madness, work madness, and holiday madness all wrapped up in one fun month! Anyway, my photos this week are pretty weak. Only a few iPhone shots, and pretty terrible ones at that. We did go ice skating, and Little Miss had a roller skating party to attend. We've also been crafting gifts, so the house is a disaster zone, but we've found a bit of holiday spirit, so yay for that. How's your month going?

Happy Friday! Another week closer to Christmas and I have SO much left to do. How about you? This week I was sick, again, ugh. Fortunately just a cold, but a nuisance with so much to do. The kids had their final week of Homeschool co-op before winter break and I plowed through lots of editing. Little Miss lost a tooth as well. How was your week?

Cold beach session!

Tree topping and toothless.

Hey Friends! Happy Friday! I sincerely apologize for skipping out the past couple of weeks. I'm pretty sure that's a blogging sin. We lost our sweet Bella a couple of weeks ago, and it was really a tough time. It was the peak of wedding & portrait season - my busiest week of the whole year, actually. Plus I got sick shortly after she passed, but had to keep working, of course.  It was just a storm of stress, depression, illness, exhaustion and ick. It was all I could do to keep up with client work and tend to my family the best I could muster. It took me a while to catch back up and feel normal, and so blogging fell by the wayside. I am truly sorry.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving (if you celebrate). My holiday weekend was mostly work, but we did enjoy a wonderful family meal at my sister and brother-in-law's house.

I also have a few shots to share from our attempt at family photos. I'm not thrilled with the outcome - why is it such a ridiculous struggle with one's own family?! But, at least I finally got some portraits of the kids. I used to think herding toddlers was tough, but coordinating teenage tempers and 'tudes, is not for the faint of heart I tell ya.

Happy Friday! The busy season madness finally took me down this week. I'm feeling rather overwhelmed at the moment. Sessions and wedding edits are taking over my life. True story. The kids are busy with activities for school, Girl Scouts, social gatherings, etc. etc, and Bella's care is becoming a 'round the clock job. I am tired. So tired. And I know I have a mountain to climb before I can rest. I'm behind in all sorts of ways, so I apologize for not getting this post up on time. Unfortunately, it is one of the many things I've not been able to keep up with lately.

Before I peel away from my desk to get the kids in bed, administer more meds to Bella, and then collapse on the couch, I figured I'd at least post a few shots I did take of my girlie this week. She and I have an hour and a half to kill while we wait for her sister at Drama class each week, so we played out in the falling leaves and took some photos. I also have pics from hubs birthday yesterday, but I haven't had time to load those yet, so maybe next week.

Anyway, I'm glad to had my camera with me the other day (since I was taking class photos for co-op). I love these shots of my carefree kiddo. Oh to be a kid again....

Crikey! How on earth did we slide into November already?? I love fall, but haven't had a chance to savor it as much as I'd like. 2018 will be over before we know it - and that just makes me feel old, haha. Too bad we can't turn the clocks back more than an hour this weekend.

Anyway, our week was full of festivities. The kids had Halloween parties at the far ends of town, and my mom threw her annual Halloween bash for my kids and their cousins. We all had a grand time. She really goes all out and makes it so delightful and memorable. I also had a wedding on Saturday, so I've been dragging through the better part of this week.

Betwixt it all we managed to get the pumpkins carved, and trick-or-treating with the neighbors was a fun excursion. Bella is hanging in, but taking lots of pain meds to get through the day.  I also managed to get a couple of kids portraits done, which was on my list remember? I still have 3 more kiddos to go, but at least this month wasn't a total fail. I have much to be thankful for, even if I am feeling old.

Welcome friends,
Another week down and Friday again already?! I knew the time between Labor Day and Halloween would fly by. We are stocked with candy and making the last mad dash for costumes, as usual. How about you?

This week's photos are all of our girl Bella. For the past few weeks I have been struggling to come to terms with the fact that she is very sick. I knew something wasn't right, and I took her to the vet a couple of weeks ago, which confirmed my fears. She has osteosarcoma. She was born in 2008, and has been with us since she was just a couple of months old. She is family. We lost a Dane to the same cancer before we had Bella, and it absolutely broke my heart in pieces. I know Bella has lived a good life. She has been well loved and has enjoyed many healthy years for a Dane. Many more than our Max did - he was only 6. I am so grateful for all of the time we have enjoyed with her. But I am dreading what lies ahead.

I took some time this week to take a few portraits of her, while she still feels well enough to enjoy her favorite pass time - sunning herself in the back yard. She loves to just lie out in the yard, and listen to the birds. And occasionally, bark at the wind, just so it knows who's boss.

Happy Friday to you! How was your week?
We've been busy with the usual activities. We did have a little field trip on Monday. Our Girl Scout troop headed out for some seasonal fun - though, at 81 degrees, it felt more like summer than fall.
We went on a hayride and toured a small local farm. We selected pumpkins and a few gourds from the pumpkin patch, then ventured into the corn maze. It was a beautiful sunny day, with blue skies and white puffy clouds hanging over us. I didn't take my DSLR, but my iPhone was put to good use capturing the fun:

Happy weekend friends! This week was another hectic one. Work is piling on and keeping up with the kids' activities, and home obligations is a full time job. I am completely exhausted.  No rest for the wicked though, I have a 9 hour wedding tomorrow.

Last weekend we enjoyed a visit with my Dad and Stepmom. We ventured north to a new Revolutionary War museum in Yorktown. We all really enjoyed the trip! The museum was fantastic and full of interesting exhibits. We watched an immersive film, with a surround screen and sound, plus special effects like the seats shaking when canons went off and smoke creeping in around us. It was pretty cool!

The kids really loved the working colonial farm as well. It was a very hands-on experience, and our oldest even got to participate in the canon firing demonstration. All in all it was a great and memorable day.  If you ever have an opportunity to visit, I highly recommend it. I only took my phone along so all pics are iPhone:

Happy Friday! I am sorry this post is terribly late, but I figured better late than never. I shot a wedding yesterday, and today we had some last minute plans with family who came into town, so my to do list is askew.

This week's photos include a post-co-op jaunt to a tasty donut shop we've been wanting to try for a couple of years. They were delicious! Also, picking up my teens from book club and an exhausted sunset drive home post-wedding. What have you been up to this week?

Happy weekend friends! I'm feeling pretty worn down and will keep this short and sweet. This week was hectic with work, co-op, homeschooling, driving lessons, Girl Scouts, etc., etc. I feel like I ran all over but accomplished little!

I have a full weekend of sessions ahead, and next week starts October and the madness of wedding season. Did you know that October now out-paces June for weddings? Yep, so wedding and holiday portrait season are one in the same. The next few months will be a total blur, I'm sure.

As I was scraping around for content for this post, it was painfully obvious that I have gotten more and more slack about taking family pics, even with my phone. It's gotten pretty pitiful. We went to the zoo last weekend, and the few shots I did take made it painfully clear how much my children have changed since I have taken any proper photos of them. It's now on my priority list for the next month!

Anyway, here are the meager images I have to share. I wish they were more exciting, ha ha. How was your week?

Yikes, Friday again! I nearly missed it. This week has been hectic with school activities and work of course. We started a homeschool Co-op and are loving it so far, but it means more time away from home and trying to cram everything else in between.  The kids are enjoying some creative classes though - guitar, ceramics, drama and engineering among other things.

Between wacky weather, a wedding and the busy school week, I've not taken many personal pics. I have only a couple from a trip out to Sandbridge for a family session this week. It was still quite windy from the lingering storm effects, but the sunset was lovely and the beach secluded.

Hi friends,

Happy Friday! I hope you all are having a great week and staying safe from the crazy weather. We spent much of the week prepping for Hurricane Florence. Fortunately for us, the forecast improved a great deal for our area. We are still expecting some wind and tidal flooding, but not nearly as severe as predicted earlier in the week. Sending positive vibes to all those in the path of this storm!

Other than storm prep, this week was spent mostly editing and conducting school. Not much to show other than a few beach scenes via iPhone. How was your week?
