Friday Photo Journal Link Up - January 30, 2015

Friday, January 30, 2015

Hey there friends! I hope you have had another great week! We're plugging along through winter, and another round of colds. Thankful it's nothing more though! We only had a dusting of snow here. So the kids were very excited for about 5 minutes, until they realized they couldn't throw snowballs or make a snowman. Other than that, it's been a quiet week around here. Here's a peek:

Friday Photo Journal Link Party - January 23, 2015

Thursday, January 22, 2015

Happy Friday all! I hope you have had a fun and productive week. I have managed to get a few administrative projects out of the way, and have been plugging away on my 365. I am really trying to break out of my norm and try different things, as you'll see from this post. From a creative stand point, it's been fun to have a break from shooting for others. I generally feel disappointed in my attempts at new things, however. I suppose that's a natural part of the learning curve, but I really want to love my work, and mostly I just don't. Maybe I'll get there one day. Then again, maybe that's just the ever-elusive carrot of photography, hmmm?

This week I tried some zoom blur and some free lensing, which resulted in lots of junk shots, ha ha. Thank goodness they are digital because I'd quickly break the bank with film!

Sorry for the image over load! How was you week?

Throwback Thursday

There are no more tricycles at my house. I miss the little round toes, the warm snuggles after nap time, the baby scented bath soap, and the small voices chatting in the backseat of my car.
They grow up so fast.

365ing

Monday, January 19, 2015

Sharing a few more 365 images today. I tried my hand a freelensing this week. It's a bit of work, but I love the effect. Once I figured out how to "prop" open the aperture on a Nikon lens, I wasn't fighting the darkness anymore. The second, third and fifth images were freelensed.  I first tried it with my Sigma 35 mm and had trouble getting a good plane of focus AND some cool blur and light leaks. After a little research, I discovered that 50 mm lens is a better choice. It's fun to try something new. It can be frustrating, and I have shot plenty of throw-aways, but I will keep trying. :)

Have you tried any new techniques lately? I'd love to hear about them!

Happy Friday all! Boy the winter weather has set in and so has the mundane gray monotony. Blah. That's about all I have to say about winter. We rarely get snow here. Just cold, often wet, and very gray. We are blessed with an occasional warmer day, and so I must try to be thankful that this winter I detest will not last long.  In the meantime, I will try to find meaning in the hours I have with my kiddos. Many more hours than I am able to enjoy in the busy warmer months. We snuggle in, bake, read, play games, and pine for summer. ;) How about you?

What have you been up to lately?

Daily Dwelling

Tuesday, January 13, 2015

Sharing more 365 images today. I'm am so not a fan of winter. I long for sunshine and warm breezes.
By the way, I have a really hard time just shooting or selecting one image, so my 365 is more of a series of daily images that may or may not go together. My processing will also probably be all over the place. But hey, that's part of the fun and freedom of a personal project right? No rules!! :)
