Hey friends! How was your week? Aside from a Girl Scout meeting, basketball practice and a trip to the vet, we've been kicking around at home mostly. It has been SO nice to have a break from my hectic work schedule. I've been able to focus more on my family. Even though they drive me nuts sometimes, my happiest days are juggling kids and dogs and married life.

I spent a bit more time playing around with freelensing and different creative techniques again this week. Things got a little weirder, ha ha. These are a far cry from the "pretty" pics I normally create for clients, but it feels great to explore a little freedom and weirdness.  I'm sure these are not everyone's cup of tea (had a few strange looks from the hubster), but they are for me, so no one else needs to like them. ;)

Happy Friday all! I hope you've had a great week. We got another dumping of snow this week. Not as much as last week, but enough to play in. It's melting quickly though, since we're headed back into the 50's for the weekend. I love how beautiful the snow is, but the aftermath of muddy paws is no bueno. I spend half my life cleaning the floor it seems!

I played around with some creative techniques this week. It didn't yield anything spectacular, but it was fun to try different things. I do feel like I'm on the verge of getting the knack of freelensing though, finally. It has been a goal of mine for a couple of years. It is so frustrating that I usually take a whack at it and then give up for a while. I'm pretty sure the key is tons of practice, which I just haven't kept up with. I'd love to be able to consistently get something decent, so that I can incorporate it into client sessions. So far I'm a slow learner, ha ha. But I did finally get some wider shots that work, which I could never do before, so cheers to small victories! ;)

Welcome to this week's Friday Photo Journal! Whether you are starting off the year with a Project 365 or P52, or you just enjoy photography on your own schedule, we'd love to have you join us! There are no rules really. Post a daily, weekly or monthly recap, or just join us when the mood strikes.

My personal purpose for this project, which began in 2013, is to keep up with documenting my own family's journey. It's a weekly reminder, when life and work get busy, that photographing our story is just as important as the memories I collect for my clients. Some weeks I can only manage a few iPhone shots, but the important thing to me, is to keep shooting. When I look back at the images collected on this blog (even the terrible, tiny ones shot in Auto many years ago), I am SO thankful for all of the treasured memories my family will have to enjoy for years to come.

Happy Friday! The snow has lingered all week. It was crazy cold, in the teens for most of it, but today started a warm up and tomorrow will be 68. I've had my taste of winter and I'm ready for spring now. ;)

We were house bound for several days. Yes, everything here shuts down when it snows. We're in the South. Public schools were out for a whole week! Other than playing in the snow and drinking hot cocoa, we didn't accomplish much this past week (though I did make my kids get back to schooling after 2 days. #meaniepantsmom).

Our one adventure was an ice skating trip. Little Miss has begged to go, so we took the girls last weekend. It was 19 degrees and I thought my toes might shatter into 1000 pieces after about 15 minutes, but they loved it! Little Miss took off in no time and ventured out to the middle of the rink. That one is fearless I tell you.

Greetings friends! I hope you are enjoying your first week of 2018! Like most of the east coast, we started back to school this week and then were promptly interrupted by snowmageddon. I didn't really think we were going to get all that much snow - they were calling for 3-6" - but it was supposed to start snowing in the early evening and we saw only a couple flakes off and on. Then, overnight we got smacked with it and woke up to about 8".  It continued most of the day and we now have at least 12.

We took the day as a family day (though hubs worked some from home) and played in the snow for as long as we could stand the bitter cold. I made a white bean chicken chili (a new recipe to me and so yummy) and my oldest girl made snowball cookies. We also watched a movie together. All around it was a fun and relaxing day. It's rare for us to have so much down time together, and I soaked up every minute!
