Thursday's Quiet Moment

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

I hope everyone had a safe and fun-filled Halloween. We are up to our eyeballs in sugar, and the kiddos are sufficiently worn out from walking the neighborhood. I guess I'd call that a success. They had a blast making the rounds with friends and Little Miss quickly warmed up to the idea knocking on doors and smiling to collect some candy loot.

I didn't get any fantastic shots as my kids were in perpetual motion and moving in all different directions. We also got a late start and headed out after dark. So, today I'm sharing some quiet moments instead of Halloween pics. You know I love black and whites!

Thanks so much for stopping in.

WW- Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween everyone! I'm sharing a few pics of my kiddos today. They were dressed up for a Halloween party they attended last night. These aren't the original costumes we planned on. We had some wardrobe malfunctions and the chilly weather meant we needed to make some last minute changes. After some tears and aggravation we settled on these for the party: a sniper, a cheerleader and a ninja! They had a blast eating monster mac, mummy dogs and bobbing for apples. Tonight we're heading out to trick or treat.

Thanks for stopping in today.
Have a safe and happy Halloween!

Project Rewind - Week 43

Monday, October 29, 2012

Happy Monday friends! It's rewind time again. Last week was another busy one around here. Here's what we were up to:

I played with the 70-200 2.8 VR ED II I rented. Wowsers is it heavy! But it's a beauty!!

Enjoyed the fall color.

Captured Little Miss mimicking mommy with her camera.

We donated our Jeep to charity. I was a little sad to see it go. I loved it while we had it.

Found this cool tree and thought it looked a little spooky in it's surroundings. Reminds me of a ghost town.

Had a friendly little visitor who was kind enough to pose for pics ;)

Had my first senior shoot with this beauty!

That's it for this week. What have you been up to?

Project Rewind - Week 42

Monday, October 22, 2012

Hello friends! After a blogging hiatus and a whole lot of wedding festivities, I'm happy to say that I'm making my way back to the blogoshpere and Project 366. It was a whirlwind weekend for us. My sister was married Saturday and we all played a part in the wedding, which, I'm happy to say, was gorgeous and went off without a hitch! We're just beginning to settle back into our "normal" routine, and I'm finally getting a blog post together. Without further ado, here's my rewind from last week.

I haven't had much of a chance lately to explore outdoors and capture all those gorgeous fall colors, but I did manage to snap this shot of one of our bushes. I love the deep reds and purples showing this time of year.

I also happened upon this beauty in our neighbor's garden.

I rented this baby for the wedding last weekend, and the one I'm shooting with Sarah next weekend. Sadly, I was way too busy to capture many images at my sister's wedding, so I haven't used it much yet. It is a monster and delivers some gorgeous compression and creamy bokeh!! I love what I've seen so far and can't wait to use it for a Senior shoot tomorrow.

Here's one of the first shots I took with that lens. Granted it's not a fantastic image, but I just love what's going on in the background. I didn't enhance that at all in processing, except to throw the old film style preset on it in LR.

Here's a favorite of mine from the rehearsal dinner. We were watching a slide show I made of the happy couple from their early years through present day. Talk about a walk down memory lane!
I loved capturing the reactions of family and friends. I didn't want to distract everyone with my flash going off, so I cranked my ISO up to 5000 in the dark room and shot at f/2.8.
They aren't portrait-worthy, but I was able to capture the scene without disrupting it.

Here's a shot of my handsome hubby and baby girl all decked out.

And the bouquet I carried as maid-of-honor. The flowers were amazing!  I'm so thrilled for the newlyweds and thankful we were able to share in their day surrounded by family and friends. I will take away many happy memories from last weekend, even if I wasn't able to capture many of them on camera. Thankfully she had an awesome photographer who spent 9 hours at the wedding site!  I can't wait to see those pics!!!

And here's one more I have to share. My big girl lost her first tooth last week! Followed shortly after by her second ;)

That's it for last week. What have you been up to?
