Just a Girl

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

I have a ton going on today, including about 4 hours of Girl Scout Activities, so I just wanted to post a couple of quick pics. My posts lately have been a barrage of photos, so this might be a nice change ;)

These are just a couple of photos of Little Miss that I took last week. Gotta love those kissable cheeks!

Project 366 Rewind - Week 16 - 8 to 5

Monday, April 23, 2012

Happy Monday friends! Once again it's time to link up for the Project 366 Rewind. I really enjoy this project as it helps me take photos everyday and capture those little moments that might otherwise fade away.  Here are my pictures from last week.

We found a small dragonfly inside our storm door. My 10 year old caught and it set it free outside.

I captured tons of flowers for the Leap Into Spring! Challenge. We also found baby chickadees in our birdhouse! (iPhone pic shooting blind, lol sorry about the quality):

We had a chilly evening outdoors at soccer practice:
We found a new tree to climb at a little park.
I finally captured a blue jay. Not the most fantastic photo, but they are so timid that they are hard to catch. We found a nest above our yard so I'll keep trying ;)

This week's prompt was 8-5. I don't work outside the home, but those are the hours during which we do most of our homeschooling. We don't spend the entire time on school work, but most of it happens mid-day. This is a pic of my girls working online. It's an iPhone pic, sorry about the graininess and blur.

And we had soccer games on Saturday. Both the boys played really well and Little Man scored 7 goals!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday- Week 16

Sunday, April 22, 2012

Hello friends! We are enjoying a rainy and windy Sunday here. The kids are out playing in the puddles, the babe is napping and the hubs is studying. So here I sit editing photos. Yay! I've finally gotten my pics ready for this week's Scavenger Hunt. Without further ado, here they are:

Yellow:

Makes Me Smile. Goofy boys make me smile:

Antique. This is the cookie jar we had growing up. Ours was discarded years ago, but my mom scoured the  internet of many months and found one for me second hand. It's not the prettiest thing ever, but it holds lots of precious memories:

Splash. I'm not thrilled with this shot, but it was fun playing around with it. I definitely need a take 2:

That's it for this week. Be sure to stop by Ashley's place for more Scavenger Hunt fun!

Spring continues to bless us with an abundance of blooms. I captured many of them this week. Unfortunately, the mild weather has also blessed us with an abundance of mosquitos and those suckers love me. They are really awful here, and despite the bug spray, the mosquito magnet in the yard, the Bounce dryer sheets I stuff in my pockets and the Off fans I wear, I still get eaten alive.  I braved the bites for some gorgeous blooms this week, however. Ah, the price of photography! Here's one of my favorites:

Thanks for visiting. Have a great weekend!

Leap Into Spring - Blossoms and Blooms

I'm so excited to be joining in the Leap Into Spring! Challenge hosted by Alicia of Project Alicia, Kristi of Live and Love out Loud and Rebecca of Bumbles & Light. The Leap Into Spring! Photo Challenge is a 6-week photography challenge, April 6 - May 18, aimed at capturing the beauty of spring. You can find more details here.

The prompt for this week is blossoms and blooms. I have eleventh-billion flower photos and I have run out of time for processing them. I had hoped to play with some textures or at least put together some collages, but this week has been crazy busy and tomorrow we have several appointments, so I'll just have to post these as they are now.  I hope you enjoy them! Sorry to dump so many photos at once. I've been looking forward to this challenge ;)

I can't wait to see what others have captured as well. I always find such inspiration through these challenges and love meeting fellow photography lovers along the way!!

UPDATE: The fabulously talented and uber awesome Sarah Halstead is offering free story board templates over at Naptime Momtog. I used one to create the collages below:

A Near Miss

Thursday, April 19, 2012

This shoot with my oldest daughter was spur of the moment and way too hurried. A drive by shooting, if you will. I saw the tall grass, pulled off the road with the crying baby in the back and snapped some quick shots, hopped back in the car and off we sped. Though there are many things I will do differently next time, I still loved these shots of her, minus the clipped limbs which make me cringe a little. But, here they are, nonetheless, with my promise to try again soon.
