Friday Photo Journal, June 26, 2015

Happy Friday all! This week I actually have a plethora of photos to share. The first set is from a trip to the Children's Museum. I decided that we had been stuck in the house (due to high heat and humidity) and bound by work, school, doctors appointments and the like for long enough. A fun day was long overdue! I took the kids out for lunch at Chick-Fil-A, then to the Children's Museum of Portsmouth, and we even stopped for Slurpees on the way home. We had a blast! It was so much fun to just play for a day. I loved every minute. 

Then, on Father's Day, our plan was to take Dad out for breakfast. But, our lazy Sunday morning made for a lunch date instead. We then saw that Nauticus, a local nautical and naval museum, was having a "Dads get in free" special and we went for it. Two museums in one weekend, plus frozen yogurt on top! It was like a family vacation for us, ha ha. This week we dug into our end of year testing, so it was a nice break before the final push. All of these images were taken with my iPhone so that I could focus on the fun and not worry about lugging a DSLR around.

Friday Photo Journal, June 19, 2015

So last week was a total bomb. I completely forgot to post FPJ and I fully admit to being the worst blog host in the history of blog hosting. I shot a wedding last Thursday in 95 degree heat and high humidity and came home absolutely fried. I shot another wedding on Saturday in 95 degree heat and humidity and didn't even realize I had forgotten the blog post until Tuesday. Smh. I'm so sorry! Really I am. I should have prepared before hand but had weddings on the brain, along with getting galleries out the door, and I just dropped the ball. I apologize!

It took me a couple days to recover from last weekend and then I had two family sessions during the week, so I really didn't take many personal photos other than a few with my phone. Here's a peek at our extremely exciting week: (including the dentist, a visit from Mawmaw, summer walks, a lost dog found, both wedding locations, and sleepy kiddos)

Friday Photo Journal - June 5, 2015

Another week down - 2015 is surely flying by. When I wrote a check today and realized that we are in the 6th month of this year it boggled my mind. Half over already?! Hard to believe.

Last week was insanely busy for me with lots of shooting, including a wedding. This week I have a break from shooting - yahoo! But, still have tons of editing to do, of course. I did take this weekend off for my big girl's birthday, and to decompress before two more weddings next week. So, I actually got this week's FPJ up early! How 'bout that?!

Like most of the east coast, we have had lots of rain this week - for days. So, when the clouds broke yesterday for a bit, I took my little (or not so little anymore) outside to play. These images are far from perfect, but I adore them. They make my heart so full. Shooting from the heart beats technical precision any day in my book. ;)

Friday Photo Journal - May 29, 2015

Hi friends! So sorry for the late posting of this week's link up. The past few days have had me driving long treks to sessions. I came home last night exhausted, with SD cards to load and kids to put to bed.    Anyway, it has been a busy week and I worked most of last weekend, but we did manage to enjoy some fun over the holiday weekend. We headed to my mom's for a bbq and some swimming. The kids were brave enough to venture into the cold water and had a blast, but came out with blue lips.  I just dipped my toes in. The weather was gorgeous, but the water was just too chilly yet for me! I think I'll wait a couple of weeks for my first swim of the season. ;)  I did not take my camera to the pool so that I could just relax and enjoy my family. 

I did take the girls downtown on a scouting trip last week though and after a quick 30 minute trek, I came to the conclusion that I need to venture downtown to shoot more often! Today I'm sharing a few shots we took in the city.

 Friday Photo Journal

 I just love strawberry season! When I was a kid my mom used to take us out of school early one afternoon in May and take us strawberry picking. I ate my weight in berries and rode home with red fingers and stained lips. I looked forward to it every year! 

This week I ventured out with the kids to pick some berries at a local farm. It was tons of fun to get out of our ordinary routine and enjoy a little outdoor adventure. Though it was a hot, humid day, the kids loved visiting the farm animals and taking a hay ride. We brought home a bounty of beautiful ripe berries too - yum! We have since enjoyed smoothies, shortcake, ice cream topped with berries and my fave - sliced berries and cream. What's your favorite berry recipe?
