Tuesday's Around the World

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

Thought I'd link up today for Communal Global. I love this meme, which allows us to take a peek at what others are up to around the world. There are always so many gorgeous photos and I love seeing snippets of life around the globe.

I'm sharing this pic of my soon to be 5 year old. His birthday is this Thursday. He's growing up so fast and it makes my heart hurt. At the same time, I am so very proud of the little person he is becoming. He has a great big heart, adores his baby sister, idolizes his older brother and can lighten any mood. His wonderful, quirky sense of humor brightens up my world and his laugh is always infectious.

Last night when I was tucking him in bed, I told him stories about when he was born, and how each of us welcomed him to the family. We talked about what he meant to us, how each family member reacted, and how we cherished those moments. I could see the joy in his eyes and how he was touched to hear how special he was to us.

With three other siblings, I sometimes worry that my kids will feel neglected, so I try to be sure spread the love and attention equally. I know it's important to spend a few minutes of one on one time like we did last night.

How do you make sure your kids don't feel lost in the shuffle?

Project 366 Rewind - August 20, 2012

Monday, August 20, 2012

Happy Monday friends! Today is a big day around here. My baby girl turns 2 today. I can hardly believe she's a 2 year old already. Someone please slow the hands of time!! This mama can't keep up.

Last week I headed downtown to scope out the route for a Clickin' Walk I'm co-leading with Sarah. This is just a sign that caught my eye.

I also did a shoot for a triathlete training for an Ironman race.

I captured a butterfly on our bushes.

I also caught a baby in a box.

Captured a rare moment of peace between the middles as well.

I also managed a shot of my niece and nephew who were home visiting between their busy school, and swim training sessions. Love them!

And we celebrated birthdays for the littles, which are actually today and Thursday.

They both have birthdays this week!  I've also been up to my eyeballs in editing from two shoots last week, so this is all I could manage for the hunt this week. They are all instagr.am photos. But I love playing along so I wanted join in. Here are my interpretations for this week.

PEDIGREE DENTASTIX Prize Pack Giveaway

Because the physical health of a pet is closely tied to their oral health, PEDIGREE is hosting a giveaway here on my blog for my readers with waggy-tailed friends. In an effort to get the word out about the importance of proper dental care for our pets, they have also put together this awesome site with oral care tips and coupons for DENTASTIX Snack Foods.

Poor dental health can lead not only to bad breath and tooth loss, but also has been linked to more serious issues like heart, lung and kidney problems. However, according to a survey conducted by PEDIGREE DENTASTIX Treats, only 32% of people report taking their dog to the vet for an annual dental cleaning. That's concerning because four out of five dogs over the age of three have some level of gum disease.

Since doggie dentures aren't an option, taking a preventative approach to oral care for your pet is key. That includes an annual dental cleaning at the vet, plus daily tooth brushing and feeding of oral care treats like PEDIGREE DENTASTIX, which are clinically proven to reduce tartar build up by up to 80%.

I was sent a sampling of DENTASTIX Treats to try with our pooch Bella, and boy does she love them! And I love that they take care of her canines and freshen her breath. Trust me, that's important when you're staring down the barrel of a great dane!

If you'd like to win a PEDIGREE DENTASTIX prize pack, like the one show above, for your pooch just enter here!

Friday Photo Love

Friday, August 17, 2012

Holy guacamole this has been a busy week. I'm sorry I've been neglecting the blogosphere. I'm up to my eyeballs in editing, birthday preparations, house cleaning, bill paying...well you get the idea. It's been a good week, but I feel so far behind. I promise to spend some time visiting you all this weekend!

Just a quick post today to add my favorite image of the week. Our butterfly bushes have been great hosts this summer. I captured another butterfly taking a drink.

I am also so excited to see that my photo was chosen as last week's winner for Shoot. Edit. Submit. Wowza! There is some stiff competition. What an honor! Be sure to stop by Kim's place every Friday to check out all the awesome entries.

On a side note, I posted yesterday at Paper Heart Camera about how to shoot sharp images. It's a question I've been asked a few time here on the blog, so I shared some tips that I have found really helpful in getting sharper shots. You can check it out here: Shoot Sharp.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit. Have a beautiful weekend friends!
