Aloha Friday

Aloha friends! It's that time again already...where did the week go? I'm 36 weeks pregnant today...and tired, and feeling like Large Marge! Off to an OB check up this AM so I'll keep it short and sweet ;)

My question this week: If you have kids, did you give them family names or just choose names you liked? If you don't have kids, how was your own name chosen?

Thanks for visiting today! Your comments make my day :) Be sure to stop by An Island Life for more Aloha Friday fun!

Wow. I didn't know you were pregnant. Congrats. Not much longer to go. I chose my kids names based on what we liked except for my son he was naemd after his father by default. lol However I did stick with his families tradition with giving the girls 2 middle names. Sad part I have to look on their birth certificate to remember their names sometimes smh. Their names all begin with the letter J

We have four kids. Their first names were just names that we liked, but, we gave them middle names that were family names - except for our youngest - we had trouble coming up with a name for him. He was 2 days old before we named him and his names are not family, just names we liked.

I just picked a name I liked--Mason :) But I'm not against doing family names either! Mason's Dad has a family name. He wanted to pass it along but I declined!

My mom changed my name 3 times within the first week of my life. Good thing she had friend at Vital Statistics, lol.

My oldest was named after my favorite hockey player - Trevor Linden and his middle name was chosen by me to make short two letter nickname.

My youngest was named on instinct and was given the first name that popped into my head the second I saw him and it suits him so well.
His middle name is in memory of my grandpa.

I choose names I like and if necessary or if it actually fits, I'll use a family name for the middle name.

I very specifically did NOT choose family names for my kids - my hubby is a "3rd" and I didn't want my son to be a "4th". Both my kids are actually named from TV character names I liked (though my hubby thinks that our son is named after a hockey player from his favorite team...shhh...lol). But I did give both of them middle names that start with "A" like mine and hubby's.

I am a new follower from MBC and would love for you to stop by my blog sometime - http://www.createyourtraditions.com. :)

We did give our kids family names but we weren't opposed to non-family names. Our son is named after my hubby and father in law, but instead of making him "the third" (hubby is a Jr.) we gave him my fathers name as his middle name to honor both sides. My daughter has a real old-fashioned name (which unfortunately is now very popular) which was my great great grandmothers name.

We chose family and scriptural names for the most part.

I chose first names that I really loved and then we gave them our first names for their middle names.

Hi, New to your blog! Wow - due any day! You must have your hands full. My 8 month old son, first child was named after his daddy's middle name, Orel - it is pretty uncommon (and we pronounce it O'rel, not Oral like most), and his dad is already a junior and didn't want to continue with that. Then my husband actually dropped his own first name so that he is Orel now as well, although those who know him won't stop calling them what they previously did. My son doesn't become junior though because he has a middle name (my grandfather's middle name - as my husband felt welcomed by my grandparents in our interracial marriage) and now my husband doesnt. So that was my long answer to your short question :)
