Black and White Beauties

Thursday, May 31, 2012

I have always loved black and white images. Lately I find that I'm drawn to them. I think the creamy skin in black and whites, especially on children, is just gorgeous. And the timeless feel it lends to images just makes me swoon.

Today I'm sharing a few more images that I took last weekend while we were in NC visiting family. We had a great trip and a fun-filled holiday weekend. Between the birthday party, baseball game and boat ride, the kids were pleasantly pooped. I don't think they've slept so hard in quite a while.
I am so glad we have those memories to smile back on.

North Carolina Mini Session

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

Happy Wordless Wednesday! I can never seem to go completely wordless, so here's my story in a nutshell. Today I thought I'd share a few pics from a mini shoot I did with Little Miss while we were visiting my in laws in NC last week. And by mini session I mean I grabbed a small rocking chair and my daughter and ran outside to the back yard and snapped away for about 5 minutes while she was cooperating. Then she was off to explore and that was it. Short and sweet!

A Glimpse at a Southern Town

We spent the last four days visiting my husband's home town of Asheboro, North Carolina. While we were there we ventured downtown to take in the sights of this quaint little southern town. I thought I'd share some of those photos here today.

Project 366 Rewind - Week 21

Hello friends! I know it's Tuesday and I'm just posting my Monday Rewind, but I'm trying to play catch up after a long weekend out of town. We've been traveling over the past four days with limited internet access. If you've come by and have not heard from me, I apologize! I'll be following up on comments today. Thanks for your patience ;)
So here's what we were up to last week. It was another busy one and rather exciting too!

Monday we had P.E. as usual and did lots of errands, then spent the afternoon lazing about. This is my little man hanging out watching TV.

Tuesday was the Girl Scout bridging ceremony and Hot Stuff here bridged up from a Daisy to a Brownie. She was so excited to get her new uniform.

On Wednesday we had P.E. again and then had a rare family lunch out. While dining I got the long awaited news that my new camera had come in. I was giddy with excitement!  My wonderfully supportive husband bought this for me. I could hardly believe it. And he even ordered the extended battery pack, that crazy man. This thing is huge! Now I just have to prove myself worthy to carry it ; -/

Thursday brought a bump in the road as we finalized plans for our holiday weekend trip. Rut roh.
Friday we arrived at my in-laws in NC and they took the older kids to the lake so hubs and I could have a quite dinner out) with a squirmy toddler in tow. After dinner we took a stroll downtown to shoot some pics of his quaint little home town, Asheboro, NC. There we are in the reflection ;)

Saturday we attended my nephew's birthday party and his baseball game. It was hot, but lots of fun! Those funky lines in this image are from the fence I was shooting through. Isn't he cute?
Sunday we spent all day at the lake and out on my in laws new boat. The kids tried a little fishing but didn't catch a thing. They really enjoyed it though. I should have worn more sunscreen as my shoulders are paying the price for a long day in the sun.

Yesterday we drove home. Fortunately there wasn't much traffic, but the unpacking and the laundry kept me busy all evening. This little thing was sure glad to be out of the car! I threw in an extra day because of the long weekend ;P

Simple Things Sunday - New Places

Saturday, May 26, 2012

Last week my older daughter had the opportunity to attend a Girl Scout party at Build-a-Bear workshop. She was thrilled to be going and loved the experience of creating her own bear. It was lots of fun to watch the girls' excitement as they chose names and hearts and decorations for their bears. My boys, of course, were less than enthralled with this experience and so we went out exploring a bit.

This shop was in a retail center that I had never visited. And wow, was it beautiful. A shopper's heaven, full of great stores, little parks and pretty flowers. I was so glad I had my camera with me as we explored. I only wish we'd had a little more time to spend there. My simple thing today is being thankful for new experiences and new places to explore.

Shoot. Edit. Submit - May 25, 2012

Friday, May 25, 2012

Hi there friends! I hope you are kicking off a fun-filled holiday weekend! I, for one, am ready to relax. Of course, with 4 kids that's never easy. In fact, I'm having trouble even getting these few sentences typed in with all the requests and interruptions, lol. Ah, such is life around here.  Anyway, here is my submission for this week's Shoot. Edit. Submit. Challenge:

What have you captured lately? Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great weekend!!
