Happy Friday! As usual, Christmas flew by. It was a whirlwind, but we enjoyed tons of fun and lots of family time together. I'm now back into the swing of work with a wedding editing marathon, but it was super nice to have a short break. 

Last week we also had a pet emergency. Our resident sock-eater had to be admitted at the emergency vet for surgery to extract a sock from his intestines. That was rather stressful and pretty much NO fun at all, not to mention incredibly expensive. But, fortunately he is home now and doing well. Already back to trying his old tricks, so he's keeping us on our toes!

Friday Photo Journal, November 2, 2018

Crikey! How on earth did we slide into November already?? I love fall, but haven't had a chance to savor it as much as I'd like. 2018 will be over before we know it - and that just makes me feel old, haha. Too bad we can't turn the clocks back more than an hour this weekend.

Anyway, our week was full of festivities. The kids had Halloween parties at the far ends of town, and my mom threw her annual Halloween bash for my kids and their cousins. We all had a grand time. She really goes all out and makes it so delightful and memorable. I also had a wedding on Saturday, so I've been dragging through the better part of this week.

Betwixt it all we managed to get the pumpkins carved, and trick-or-treating with the neighbors was a fun excursion. Bella is hanging in, but taking lots of pain meds to get through the day.  I also managed to get a couple of kids portraits done, which was on my list remember? I still have 3 more kiddos to go, but at least this month wasn't a total fail. I have much to be thankful for, even if I am feeling old.

Happy Friday! I am sorry this post is terribly late, but I figured better late than never. I shot a wedding yesterday, and today we had some last minute plans with family who came into town, so my to do list is askew.

This week's photos include a post-co-op jaunt to a tasty donut shop we've been wanting to try for a couple of years. They were delicious! Also, picking up my teens from book club and an exhausted sunset drive home post-wedding. What have you been up to this week?

Yikes, Friday again! I nearly missed it. This week has been hectic with school activities and work of course. We started a homeschool Co-op and are loving it so far, but it means more time away from home and trying to cram everything else in between.  The kids are enjoying some creative classes though - guitar, ceramics, drama and engineering among other things.

Between wacky weather, a wedding and the busy school week, I've not taken many personal pics. I have only a couple from a trip out to Sandbridge for a family session this week. It was still quite windy from the lingering storm effects, but the sunset was lovely and the beach secluded.

Happy Friday friends! Here we are heading into August, and summer seems to be slipping away. Last week I walked into the craft store and was bombarded with pumpkin spice everything. There were Halloween decorations everywhere, and clearance bins full of summer decor. This week, even the grocery stores have climbed on board with owls and pumpkins all over the place. Seems like we wish our lives away in the name of a buck.

Meanwhile, I'm still on the beach several times a week. Working that is, I have yet to take a beach day for leisure this year. : / This week's recap includes beach pics taken before or after client sessions, and a few iPhone shots from my niece's birthday party, which was tons of fun.

Happy Friday friends! Sorry for getting this post up late today. This week was a busy one and I had a late session at the beach last night. On my way home I stopped to take a few pics of these colorful canoes. I have photographed them before, but they just look so cool all lined up in a rainbow. I couldn't help myself. :)

The rest of the week was spent editing tons, carting children to and fro, enjoying some family time while my mother-in-law is in town, and pushing toward the end of the school year. How was your week?

Hey friends,

Happy Friday and welcome to June! We are swinging right into summer. The school year is winding down, my beach sessions are picking up, it's hot and humid outside and the mosquitos are vicious. Feels like summer to me.

Last weekend we spent a day at the pool enjoying Memorial Day food and festivities, which was tons of fun. We also took the kids to a baseball game this week. All pics except the first are iPhone because I've been lazy, and because I'm still sore from the last wedding I shot. I seriously think I sprained my middle finger shooting, ha ha. It has never happened before, but holding up 8 lbs for 8-9 hours is too much for this old lady I guess.

Happy weekend friends! The past couple of weeks have been busy with work and kids' activities. I'm looking forward to a long weekend! How about you? I do have to work and shoot a couple of sessions, but I am excited for some family time too. And hopefully some sunshine-y days after loads of rain last week. What's on your agenda? 

My pics this week are of tulips. Only in the last image are the flowers actually a different color. The first three shots are of the same flowers. I was just playing around with the processing, but kind of like the way they turned out. Which is your favorite?  

And I'm curious, what's your favorite flower? I love so many of them, but ranunculus and peonies are definitely high on the list. Photographing wedding flowers all the time makes me wish I had a much bigger garden, and time to tend it.

Friday Photo Journal, May 4th, 2018

Hey friends, how was your week? Ours was busy - lots of work, but some fun too. I had two weddings, which wipe me out. Plus we're pushing toward the end of the school year, and hubs has been working late most days too. The weather has warmed quite a bit though, and it's feeling like summer is creeping close. It's been near 90 degrees for the past couple of days. We have enjoyed some outdoor play and lots of walks and bike rides.

I don't have much to show in the way of pics this week. Hundreds of client images, but only a few of my own kiddos. These were freelensed, and poorly I might add, so yes they are out of focus. But, I love them anyway because I managed to get 3 in the frame together, and they stopped arguing for a nano-second. The soft focus even seems to take the edge off of the darts they throw at each other, ha ha.

Friday Photo Journal, April 27th, 2018

Rolling into another weekend! Where the heck has April gone? It has been a busy month of birthday celebrations, work, Girl Scout camp, schooling... it flew by! I hope May takes a more leisurely approach to passing. I'm not quite ready for summer. I'd also love for the spring blooms to keep hanging on. We still have lots of dogwood flowers and azaleas to enjoy. The pink cherry trees have shed their petals in the rain & wind. They are mostly green now. But the dogwoods are putting up a good fight this year. This week I have pink dogwood images to share.

I'm shooting an elopement Friday morning, a family session Saturday and a wedding on Monday, so the next few days will be full. I'll be traveling to Colonial Williamsburg and I can't wait to see how the gardens look up there. Maybe I'll have more flowers to show next week...or maybe some actual photos of my family, ha ha. Yip yip, it's Friday! Don't know why I'm so excited because weekends off are a thing of the past for me, but the weather is warming, the flowers are blooming and I'm feeling inspired by all the lovely changes unfolding. Last week I gave you dogwoods, this week: cherry blossoms and wisteria. :)

Last weekend we had an awesome visit with my MIL and nephews. They came up from North Carolina to help celebrate my son's 16th birthday. (Still can't believe it has been 16 years since I became a mom.) We took the kids to the Virginia Air and Space Museum in Hampton and had a great time exploring.
