Just a Girl

Forgive me if all I ever seem to post are pics of my kids. I've been practicing with my portrait lens and working on focus and composition. Since I'm with them 24/7 they provide endless opportunities for shooting ;)  These are the latest pics of Little Miss this week. She's 17 month old now and climbing onto everything. She loves to empty my kitchen cabinets as I make dinner or check email. She also helps unload the dishwasher ;)  I can see her face changing and maturing and it makes me a bit sad; but, it is so much fun to see all that personality beginning to burst forth.

I hope you are having a beautiful weekend. Thanks for stopping in to say hello. Your comments always brighten my day!

***I'm updating this post as per my message in the comment section. I revised the above image by cloning out the distractions. It is still not perfect (and my cloning skills need lots of work!) but it's a start. The rake in the first image really bothers me too, but I worked on it for a while and it looked plain awful. Like I said, cloning is an area that I really need to learn and practice. I have only attempted it a couple of times. As I mentioned to Kim in the comments. I welcome any constructive criticism.***

Gosh, I hope I can take great shots like these when I get my new camera...

They're all amazing but I love the second shot a lot!

Oh I really, really love that last one! The colors and warm tones are fabulous. I would suggest cloning the white thing in the background out because it is distracting from her cutie little face. But keep them coming! Love it!!
By the way, Little Lady just turned 17 months, too.

Thank you Kim! I agree and that spot, as well as the blurred plastic rake in image #1, have been bothering me since I posted them. I am not very good at cloning and it is something I definitely need to practice. I really appreciate your thoughtful comment and critique. That is exactly what I need to help me improve.

One of the biggest frustrations I've had with the Clickin'Moms class I'm taking is that for $150 you get zero feedback. I can't even comment on the posts or ask questions. I couldn't afford the full course for $300, which includes a critique of assignments. I have learned some valuable things, but I'm not sure it was worth $150.

Anyway, thank you for the feedback. Sometimes we are so close to our own work that it's hard to judge it objectively. I welcome your thoughts ;)

I have worked on that image and posted the revised version.

PS- I bet your Little Lady and my Little Miss would be adorable together ;)

She is so so cute!! These are really beautiful. My favorite is the second one. I love the light. The clone job looks great. The rake would be a bit harder since it intersects with her arm. I didn't even notice it until after you mentioned it. I am no photoshop expert, but in cases like with the rake I think if you can select the area outside of her arm and then do the cloning it would help. It may be hard to select it since her sleeve is almost the same color as her arm though. Are you using elements or CS5? I use CS5 and I still have a ton to learn.
