Friday Photo Journal - May 8, 2015

Happy Friday all! I hope it's been a great week for you. I apologize for posting late. It seems someone hacked my google email account and I had some cleaning up to do. :/  (Why is the world so crazy? It seems we have to have our guard up at every turn - lately it's been a bit disheartening. I guess all we can do it protect our own and try not to let the negativity rule us. I always tell myself that when the world feels ugly it needs more love. Even when we feel we have none to give, that's the time to dig deep and love more.)  Ok, sorry, on to the photos! Here are a few from yesterday. My boy was in a mood and needed to do a little cooling off. I think sprinkler bokeh is my new favorite thing. Ha!

Friday Photo Journal - March 27, 2015

Another Friday is here, and the last one in March at that. One quarter of 2015 is gone already - hard to believe! This week, for us, was all about school, kids' activities and just day to day plugging along. I kept on with my 365 and once again failed at posting images here during the week (so I have several today). I have been posting them on Flickr fairly regularly if you have an interest in following me there. I really need to get organized and print some of these images too. I love prints and good old fashioned photo books. How about you? What do you like to do with your images?

Friday Photo Journal - October 24, 2014

Well, fall is officially here. Cooler temps, breezy, shorter days. Pumpkins on every door step. I rather like it. Today I had the pleasure of visiting Colonial Williamsburg for a family session. I love it there in autumn. Hot apple cider and ginger cakes take me back to my childhood. Crunching through dry leaves and exploring life long ago. I can't think of a more perfect way to spend a fall day.

Camera Gear For Sale: By the way, most of these images were shot with my Nikon D610 which I am selling. I have had it for one year (purchased new from Best Buy) and it's a fantastic camera. The dynamic rage is pretty darn amazing and I find the color rendering to be excellent. Shutter count is 23,700. Asking $1400 shipped and insured. It is in excellent condition and comes with all original accessories/packaging. I am also selling a Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 XR Di LD lens. In very good condition. Awesome mid-range zoom for portraits and great for landscapes too. Very sharp. I have been so impressed with this lens - for the price it's amazing and so versatile! Happy Friday all! I'm celebrating by getting a new furnace/AC unit. Isn't that swell? Makes ya feel all  warm and fuzzy right before the holidays, right? Last week I treated myself to a new set of brakes. Ho Ho Ho - Happy Holidays!  Okay, enough sarcasm. Sorry, I'm a bit delirious and cross-eyed from editing wedding galleries for days. October has been an interesting month. 

I'm ready for hibernation now.

Friday Photo Journal - October 10, 2014

Hi there friends, I hope you all have had a wonderful week! We enjoyed some cooler fall temps and a few more amber leaves. Other than our usual activities, it's been all work and school around here though. The kids are getting very excited for Halloween. We did managed to put up a few decorations and back a ghost cake (we do that every year.)  I guess it is right around the corner so we had better get our costumes in order. Not until I after I have survived this weekend's 14 hour wedding day though!

Sharing a few pics of my girl playing outside this week. This one still gets super excited over little things. It is not uncommon to hear shrieks of joy over what we're having for dinner, or the fact that I washed her favorite shirt. She is my reminder that life should be celebrated daily. 

And for that I am so grateful. :)

Friday Photo Journal - September 19, 2014

This week brought some excitement our way -thankfully, rather than floods, it came in the form of baby animals, surprise proposals and a hidden jackpot.

On Tuesday the kids were playing in the front yard and a young squirrel kept following them and chirping. The hubs and I went out to see, and sure enough, he kept coming toward us and trying to climb on us. I'd never seen this behavior before! We tried to return him to the tree he came from and kept an eye on him from inside. When the behavior continued the next day, we figured he had been abandoned or lost, and we contacted a local wildlife rescue organization. The women we spoke to actually lives in our neighborhood and was very friendly with the kids. Apparently there were many injured and abandoned animals from last week's storm. :( 

The kids loved the experience and I thought it was pretty cool too. It was a relief to know that "Fuzzy" would be well cared for and eventually released. 

My youngest son, quite the opportunist, managed to scrounge up $24 in change from around the house and felt like he hit the jackpot at the CoinStar machine. :)  Little Miss captured a caterpillar, also named "Fuzzy." And I had the opportunity to photograph a surprise marriage proposal at the beach, right next to King Neptune. All in all, not a bad week.

I guess summer is here - unofficially, but we've had cooler than normal temps and morning 'til midnight workdays, so it doesn't really feel like summer vacation is near. Friday Photo Journal - May 23, 2014

Hi friends, it's been another busy week. My eyeballs are about to fall out from all of the editing I have been cranking out. 4 galleries this week. I have been working to clear my "to do" list before I shoot another wedding this Saturday.
We did manage to squeeze in a little family time last week. The kids enjoyed Nana's pool and we hit the art show last weekend. We enjoyed a couple family walks too - the kids love picking honeysuckle. And of course, we attended Homeschool PE. This week they play tug-o-war. :)

Happy Friday Pi Day! :) Last weekend we ventured to NC to visit my in laws. It was a great trip and one we had not made in quite a while. We were blessed with gorgeous weather and I enjoyed visiting with family and taking in the rural countryside as we travelled.
