A few weeks ago, I received a copy of the new book, The Triumphant Child, A Practical Guide to Raising Two, Three and Four Year Olds, edited by Olson Huff, MD FAAP and Nicole Rawson-Huff. It is a wonderful book for any parent. It offers real life stories and expert advice to guide moms and dads to parenting success.
This book was published by Sixty Second Parent, and they have a super website that offers tips and advice for parents from pregnancy through kindergarten. The site offers help from a panel of experts ranging from pediatricians and child development experts. There is also a forum where parents to help each other by sharing stories, asking questions, and providing insight from their real life experiences.
As a mom of three kids, ages 7, 4 and 22 months, I really enjoyed the practical advice in this book. There are plenty of no-nonsense solutions to the every day struggles moms and dads (and caretakers) face. Topics include: setting up daily routines, how to handle aggressive behavior, chores, getting kids to sleep in their own beds, what to do when your child says "no," giving up pacifiers, picky eating, sibling rivalry, how to handle fears, and what to do during transitions like moving, and separation or divorce. There are even tips on choosing appropriate electronic media, setting limits, and a a list of recommended reading and developmental toys.
I really liked that the book was an easy read packed full of useful information. I could pick it up and quickly reference a topic of interest or read a whole chapter (almost) before being summoned for more juice or some help at the potty. I really think this book would be a valuable asset for any parent or caregiver of young kids.
The book retails for $17.95, but I was fortunate enough to snag a free copy from twittermoms. I was asked to pass it on to a deserving parent and that's exactly what I'll do. If you'd like to have my copy of this book (in nearly new condition) just stop by sixtysecondparent and leave a comment here telling me what parenting topic you'd like to learn more about.

500 posts wow that is a lot.
Sounds like a good book. I never needed anything like this with my oldest he is so laid back and easy going but my youngest is a challenge in so many ways from not giving up his bottle to his aggressive behavior. He can wear me out!
i would love to learn more about giving up the paci as my boy does love his pacifiers!!

Take photos of your toddler's favorite people, toys, pets, places etc and put them into a photo album along with his favorite songs, rhymes or simple stories. This can be your toddler's very own book and he will love to sit with you, point out and name all of his favorite things. This is a good tip.
I would love to read this book and learn more about setting limits (such as electronics, etc.) and getting them to listen (mine have big issues with listening). I am sure there are a lot of topics I could learn about in this book.
